A very good two-tone example of the Rolex Submariner Date, with the only signs of wear being some light scuffs on the caseback. While the Submariner has its origins as a tool watch, these watches have superseded their original purpose. The original references were only produced in steel, but in 1984 Rolex began to offer a two-tone dive watch in the form of the ref. 16803. A tacit acknowledgement of how watches were increasingly seen as status symbols, it was unapologetically luxurious. Despite this, they were being built with the strictest of Rolex standards in mind, meaning that they're able to back up their flashy appearance with solid and reliable performance.
